Windows Malware and Linux
by Blakes7 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5GP3M)
Hi! I know you're going to say I have too much time on my hands, and you're probably right, but I was musing the other day. I double boot Linux Mint and Windows 10. I wondered if by opening an e-mail in linux, stupidly from somebody I don't know, if malware could be placed on my computer by idiotically clicking on a link in the e-mail. Hold on. I know linux and windows are different codes, but what if you're running Wine? Could the malware then infect the computer? As you can access the windows partition from linux, could the malware procure your info from your windows data? Maybe for a denial of service attack, or something that doesn't involve running linux commands specifically. Could malware be coded to run in linux and/or windows? As I said, it's just a thought. Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
