Man dead in Brantford shooting

Brantford police are investigating a homicide after a man was shot and killed.

Police described the Saturday afternoon incident as an active shooting," after they and paramedics responded to reports of gunshot injuries shortly after 1 p.m.

Officers found the male victim, who they said in a press release died from gunshot wounds, in a home in the area of Alfred Street and Wellington Street. They advised the public to avoid the intersection.

Police did not identify the victim in the press release, issued at 5 p.m.

They said the incident does not appear to be random.

No suspect description was provided.
