A $1 bet to salvage a couple extra bucks off of a losing lottery ticket turned into a $100,000 jackpot win for a Stoney Creek couple.
Sonia Walia and Michael Van Oosten matched six of the last seven Encore numbers in exact order in the Feb. 16 Lotto Max draw.
The couple bought the ticket at a Circle K on Upper Centennial Parkway in Stoney Creek.
I was in complete shock," Walia, 48, was quoted as saying in an OLG news release. I had to check it 20 more times to make sure it was real."
The couple plans to pay bills and invest their winnings.
It feels like a dream," said Walia. This win came at a good time for us."
