Laptop freeze during hibernation process.

My issue seem to be that every so often when I hibernate my laptop the process would fail forcing me to hard reset the system which is not ideal.

For some time I thought it was the nvidia driver crashing so I now press ctrl+alt+F1 before hibernating, which would appear to make it more stable. But I still got a freeze yesterday.

Unfortunately I have no idea what to do to debug this. So anybody that can give me a clue how to figure it out I would really appreciate.

So technical information:
Laptop: Legion 5
OS: Debian 10.9
Command to hibernate: sudo systemctl hibernate
Kernel: 5.10.24 custom compiled [apart from the geek points I had to jump to the 5.x branch of the kernel to get support for some of the HW in the legion 5 laptop]
The options in the kernel related to hibernation is however fairly standard.

I've attached the snippet of my syslog from the fail.

unfortunately it doesn't reveal much.
The last line it logs is simply:
Apr 20 16:51:19 kernel: [515252.855408] PM: hibernation: hibernation entry
after that the log starts with the first line from booting after hard resetting the system.

From previous entries it is supposed to spit out a lot of other things after that point regarding freezing the processes and so forth. All of that is just missing and I have no idea why.
It could obviously be that the log just didn't save correctly during the crash.

RAM: 24G
Primary swap partition on NVME: 24G
Secondary swap partition on HDD: 48GB (lower priority)

I know this is not a lot of information.
Any idea how I get more information or debug this further?
I would really like to be able to reliably hibernate.
