Report: Dolphins send Flowers back to Washington
The Miami Dolphins have agreed to trade guard Ereck Flowers to the Washington Football Team for a swap of late-round draft picks, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Flowers played for Washington in 2019 before inking a three-year, $30-million contract with Miami in free agency. He started 14 games for the Dolphins, who save $8 million in cap space with the move.
"I'm very excited and anxious to get back up there because I love the O-line room and I already had a good relationship with (offensive line) coach John Matsko as well," Flowers told NFL reporter Josina Anderson. "This is best for me."
Flowers steadied himself at left guard in his first stint with Washington after entering the league as a left tackle. The New York Giants selected him ninth overall in 2015, but they released him partway through his fourth season after a heap of struggles and questions about his work ethic.
The Dolphins have now moved on from three of their four most expensive signings from the 2020 offseason, as they previously released linebacker Kyle Van Noy and traded defensive end Shaq Lawson to the Houston Texans.
