I Need Some Advice/Help/Clue to Disable A Network Card
by kevinbenko from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5H866)
{WARNING: I had a stroke in 2011 and am "brain-damaged"}
{I cannot remember, but I may have asked this in the past}
A few years ago, my network card died. "My" computer-guy added a new network card and everything was 99% OK.
Now, when I screw up my system, I get a netinstall CD and build my system from scratch. Since half of my drives are backups, it's not really a problem, and Debian ALWAYS asks me what of the two network cards do I choose to use.
BUT, when I had attempted to get an install disk of Devuan, it just assumed that the original (dead card) was what it should use.
So....... Question: I need instructions on how to physically take that dead network card entirely off of my system. Can anyone tell me what I need to do, as I am NOT going to go in the computer with a soldering-iron/knife/pointed-stick/whatever to kill this dead network card for good.
Can anyone tell me what to kill this evil dead network card.
{{"My" computer guy is a {shudder} Microsoft guy, and has no idea unless I am willing to pay $150 for him to do it for me}}
Thank you for your time, and have a moderately decent day!
And drink a beer (ale only, though, never a lager)
