No video on fresh current after nvidia install + SSD issue
by Capt_Krill from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5HAGB)
Hello all,
Working on a Dell Precision 7510 with a Quadro M1000M.
Using a SATA3 ssd and a m.2 ssd. 4/30 current iso. MD5 verified.
First issue is that the SATA3 does not show up as a bootable drive after the first reboot. Not just a slackware issue, but also EndeavourOS, Kubuntu, LinuxMint. I updated the BIOS and still got nothing. Thinking this is more the SSD as it was a cheap non-brand name drive. Got a samsung m.2 ssd installed and it works just fine now. SATA drive is still accessible via linux and can be mounted copied to and from. So, not sure what the issue is there.
Second issue, multilib installs, reboots can startx without issue. Go to install the latest stable production branch driver (460.73.01), installs fine after blacklisting xf86-nouveau etc. Reboot, log in, startx, nothing.
It just stalls at the x.org output and then nothing.
I tried the latest feature branch as well. Same result. External monitor, nothing.
I am able to get to a new workspace (ctrl+alt+f2-5) and log in again and try different window managers flux, black etc. All produce the same result except blackbox that actually errors out "connection refused, giving up".
Any help would be much appreciated.
