One person dead, several injured in Flamborough crash
One person is dead and several others have been seriously injured after a multi-vehicle crash in Flamborough Wednesday afternoon.
In a video posted to Twitter, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said five vehicles were involved in the crash, which he described as a rear-end type collision" that occurred at the intersection of Carlisle Road on the northbound side of Highway 6.
Schmidt said one person was pronounced dead at the scene, but he provided no further details on the victim.
Several others have been injured, he added.
Hamilton Paramedic Service Supt. Dave Thompson told The Spectator emergency responders were called to a crash around 12:50 p.m.
A man in his 50s and a woman in her 30s were both transported to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition, said Thompson. A man in his 40s was also transported to hospital in serious but stable condition.
Three other patients were assessed at the scene by paramedics and refused transport, said Thompson.
Police have closed Highway 6 between Concession Road 8 West and Safari Road. Schmidt said motorists should anticipate the road to be blocked off for several" hours as the collision reconstruction team investigates.
Hamilton police are also on scene, according to a tweet.
We're still trying to determine exactly what took place here in this collision," said Schmidt. Obviously we have many questions that need to be answered."
