Help with setting up FTP

Hi guys, I'm learning linux and have linux mint installed. I'm trying to get filezilla to work over the internet.
I have a vsftpd server following this link: https://techviewleo.com/install-ftp-...on-linux-mint/

I also configured the ISP router to allow FTP traffic through.
Suffice to say its not working. Is there a step by step guide to get this to work please ????
