The Washington Football Team appears to have its starting left tackle for the 2021 campaign.

Washington is signing free-agent blocker Charles Leno to a one-year contract worth $5 million, Leno's agent told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The 29-year-old was released by the Chicago Bears on May 3 after seven seasons with the club.

Leno started each of the last six years at left tackle in Chicago, missing just three games. The 2018 Pro Bowler is consistent in both pass protection and in the run game.

Left tackle was a problematic spot for Washington last season. Veterans Cornelius Lucas and Geron Christian saw the majority of snaps at the spot, starting eight and six games, respectively, in 2020.

Leno will be viewed as the favorite for the job in training camp, but he'll receive competition from second-round rookie Samuel Cosmi.
