Broncos sign Bobby Massie to 1-year, $4M deal
The Denver Broncos have signed former Chicago Bears right tackle Bobby Massie to a one-year contract worth $4 million, his agency announced Wednesday.
Massie is coming off a five-year stint with the Bears, who declined his $8-million option for 2021, making him a free agent. The 31-year-old played four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals before joining Chicago.
The Broncos explored the market for a right tackle after Ja'Wuan James suffered a season-ending Achilles tear during a training session. Denver found itself in a similar position last year after James opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns, and the Broncos wound up signing Demar Dotson to a one-year deal.
Denver played to a 5-11 mark last year, missing the playoffs for the fifth consecutive season.
