Central Hamilton Mountain access closed Friday morning
The James Mountain Road Mountain access closed in both directions Friday morning.
In a tweet, Hamilton police asked commuters to find alternate routes.
The busy central Mountain access that links James Street South in lower Hamilton to West 5th Street on the Mountain closed for what appears in the tweet to be a fallen tree.
Police first tweeted the closure because of a traffic hazard around 6:30 a.m. Friday saying that the Mountain Access was closed from St. James Place to West 5th Street at Gateview Drive.
Hamilton city buses detoured the access by using the Jolly Cut just east of the closed West 5th access, the HSR tweeted but cancelled that detour and resumed their regular routes just after 9 a.m.
Hamilton Conservation Authority issued a weather warning Thursday for high winds and potential flooding on Hamilton's Lake Ontario shoreline for Friday and over the weekend.
