FreeBSD/NomadBSD - Slow USB transfer?

I would use NomadBSD/FreeBSD - but for the slow USB transfer speeds - does anyone else think the same?
I may use USB more than most people, but it was certainly the reason for returning to Linux, after putting NomadBSD on my computers, (actually, all but one of them).
