Boot from USB error: "WARNING: third partition table entry is not empty..."
by Nelson67 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5JF3R)
This is my first time trying to use Linux, I'm a longtime Windows user.
I'm trying to boot linuxmint-20.1-cinnamon-64bit from a USB flash drive that I made with YUMI-2.0.8.8, I downloaded the ISO file from linuxmint.com
On startup, the error message I get is " (hd0) WARNING: third partition table entry is not empty, please delete it if you wish to use this method." How do I look at the partition table or tell what's in it or delete it?
The laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad T530 with 8GB RAM, 2.60GHz i5 CPU, and Windows 10 installed. I'd like to completely erase / overwrite Windows and have it be a Linux-only device.
My first issue was with SecureBoot being enabled, but between Lenovo & MS sites I figured out how to turn that off in the BIOS setup utility. In the midst of that, I changed the UEFI/Legacy Boot Priority, not sure if that has any relation to this issue.
I'm thinking about remaking my USB flash with a utility other than YUMI, and/or trying a previouse distro that may be more stable and less buggy?
I appreciate any help and advice you can provide or point me to.
