Hamilton’s second community fridge opens in Beasley neighbourhood

A second community fridge has opened in Hamilton, this time in the lower city.
The fridge, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, is located at the Merit Brewing warehouse at 249 John St. N., just south of Barton Street East.
Featuring a mural by Hamilton illustrator Heidi Berton, the Beasley Neighbourhood fridge also houses a pantry for dry goods.
Residents who are able can donate fruits and vegetables, meals and goods from certified kitchens, pet food, baked goods, toiletries, PPE and more. Community Fridges HamOnt has posted a guide for donors.
Residents can take food and other items as needed.
In March, the community group opened their first volunteer-run fridge at 44 Greendale Dr. on the west Mountain.
