Girls With Slingshots - GWS Chaser #1634
New comic!
Today's News:
I went through a bunch of newspaper comics to cut some out for a comic-making station for kids this weekend (more on that in a moment), and I couldn't help but think that a) I may have actually had a decent shot at becoming syndicated if I'd tried, except also b) how difficult it would have been for me to not write things like "blow-up sex toy with arms" in a comic.
So hey, one last reminder that if you're in the DC/VA/WV/MD/PA area (I'm close to a lot of states!), and you're free tomorrow, you should bring your whole family down to Charles Town for our Summertime at the Mill event!
Speaking of wanting to say things that I probably shouldn't, this is a FAMILY FRIENDLY event, which means I'm not bringing HALF of the stuff I normally bring with me because it is all too foul-mouthed and sexy and/or naked for this. I'll be putting on my Girl Scout voice and pretending I'm not the kind of person who used to review sex toys or started #TMITuesday.
If you ever wanted to introduce me to your mother (or your kids), this is your chance.
I'll be bringing prints of innocuous Shepherdstown scenes instead of GWS books, and maybe a smattering of Stuck at 32 or Elephant Town pages if I can find some that won't get me in trouble.
My comrades, on the other hand, will be doing beautiful things that are naturally innocuous, like weaving, wood turning, blacksmithing, nature journaling (starting at 9:00!), tie dying, carving, basketweaving, and all sorts of other badass artistry, many of which they'll be demoing throughout the day! We'll also have food trucks and live music - two of my favorite local bands, the Speakeasy Boys (11-1) and Mink's Miracle Medicine (2-4) - and a lumber auction that starts at 9.
The Mill is huge and about half of the goodies will be taking place in an open-air former apple storage building; in short, if you're worried about virus stuff, this will be a well-ventilated and mostly-outdoor event with plenty of parking.
Here's the Facebook invite for it; if you can make it out, be sure to stop by my table and say hello!
Oh, and as always: here's the old post!
