The Minnesota Vikings and Sheldon Richardson could be close to a reunion.

The Vikings are making progress on a deal with the free-agent defensive tackle, a source told ESPN's Field Yates. The contract is not done yet but negotiations are headed in the right direction, Yates adds.

Richardson played the 2018 season with Minnesota, starting all 16 games and recording 4.5 sacks.

He signed a three-year, $36-million deal with the Cleveland Browns following his one-year stop with the Vikings. The 30-year-old played two seasons in Cleveland before he was released earlier this offseason. Richardson started 31 games with the Browns and registered 4.5 sacks during the 2020 campaign.

Richardson was the first-round pick of the New York Jets in 2013. He has earned one Pro Bowl selection while adding 31 sacks over 118 career starts.
