US Open golf 2021: first round – as it happened

A few players - most notably Louis Oosthuizen - will have to come back in the morning to complete their first rounds. McIlroy rolls in his birdie putt, and that's a really positive end to a round that looked to be heading south. That par saver from the fringe on 17 could prove a real momentum shifter. He bounces off with a huge smile on his face, whipping up the few spectators that remain. A very acceptable 70. Meanwhile a 71 for DJ, and a miserable 78 for Rose.
