The popular Amazon Echo speaker (Echo 4th Gen) is $40 off during Prime Day!
You're going to see a lot of great Amazon device deals during the 2021 Prime Day event, and some of the best discounts can be found on Echo smart speakers. However, as much as we love the tiny Echo Dots and bright Echo Show devices, we keep coming back to the same conclusion that the "regular" Echo (4th Gen) is the best Alexa speaker overall.
Why do we think this mid-sized orb is the best Echo you can buy? First, it has the best overall blend of features at a reasonable price point. Second, not only can you choose from three gorgeous colors (Charcoal, Glacier White, and Twilight Blue), but you get an amazing-sounding speaker in a still relatively petite package. And third, it's a good value at its normal retail price, but this Prime Day deal is an absolute steal.
Amazon Echo (4th Gen) | $40 off at AmazonThe fourth-generation standard Echo smart speaker is the best yet, with a stunning new spherical design, better sound quality, and a built-in Zigbee smart home hub. In addition, Amazon hasn't increased the price of the Echo since 2016 - which is awesome - and right now, it's more affordable than ever.
One thing is certain when you buy an Echo (4th Gen), you're not getting a boring or traditional-looking speaker. The globe-like design of the Echo is pretty unique in the speaker space, and while it might be polarizing for some, it's not too outlandish either. Particularly if you get it in the Charcoal or Glacier White variants, the device can easily fade into the background of your home's decor. Even the Twilight Blue (my personal favorite) adds just the right amount of color and distinction without coming across as garish or clashing with your other personal items.
Echo speakers have been fairly criticized in the past for not having amazing sound, but Amazon seems to have addressed those concerns pretty well with the fourth iteration. We have a lot of audiophiles on staff who gush about the sound quality from smart speakers like the Nest Audio or Sonos One, and even they were blown away by just how good the Echo (4th Gen) sounds for less money.
In addition to the hands-free Alexa voice controls and the physical buttons (including a microphone mute button) that seamlessly blend into the design, the Echo (4th Gen) still retains its 3.5mm audio jack. This is great if you want to listen to the speaker without disturbing others, but it also allows you to connect it to legacy speakers for Alexa voice control. Plus, there is a thread mount on the bottom, making it easy for you to attach the Echo to a speaker stand if you wish.
All in all, this Prime Day deal makes a great value even better, so don't miss your chance to take advantage of it.
