While Biden has extended the federal eviction restrictions through July, advocates in California are growing increasingly concerned about the state ban on evictions that is due to expire next week.

State officials have said California has $5.2bn to pay landlords all of what they were owed while giving low-income renters who have fallen into debt a clean slate. But advocates and officials in some of the hardest-hit cities, say they fear the plan will not reach the people in need and note that the process to dole out relief has been very slow.
