On Thursday evening a large-scale rescue operation was continuing at the site of a collapsed 12-story apartment block in Surfside, a small oceanfront town just north of Miami Beach. Authorities said at least one person was killed, 10 injured and 99 people unaccounted for. Police have launched a homicide inquiry.
