Connect a gstreamer input to output? pulsesrc to pulsesink silence

Code:gst-launch-1.0 pulsesrc ! pulsesink using `pavucontrol` I can see gst-launch-1.0 in the recording tab, and I can hook my microphone to it and watch the meter respond to my sound, but in the playback tab, the gst-launch-1.0 meter does not show any activity, thus I can't get any sound no matter what I do.
It is strange because Code:gst-launch-1.0 audiotestsrc ! pulsesink does work as intended.
Any ideas?
