postfix to authenticate via pop3 or imap

Hi Guys,
Just wondering if someone here or knows if postfix can authentication to an external pop3 or imap service? I'm planning to setup a outgoing smtp server and users will be able to send email if authentication in pop3 is successful. I could not any output in Google.
Any ideas?
