How do I record a video with a shell command?

How do I record a video with a shell command? The only command I have found is the "streamer" command, but the streamer command requires a /dev/dsp, which LinuxMint does not have, nor does LinuxMint have a module that I can modprobe that will create a /dev/dsp.

Please don't tell me about the "cheese" program, or other graphical utilities, unless they have a command-line mode. I am looking for a shell command.

Thank you in advance for any and all replies.
