They told Lola Saliko she had to have the baby, and despite the fevered fog of COVID-19, she remembers that. The doctors told her she was not safe, and the baby was not safe, and they'd be putting her to sleep. She didn't know she would be intubated the next day, or that her COVID-afflicted husband couldn't care for the baby, or what would happen next. Nobody did, at the time.
