initramfs shell "UUID not found" after kernel update
by coequalizer from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5MAZG)
Hi all,
Currently working on something that requires a mainline kernel (5.14-rc1), so of course I've compiled and installed a mainline kernel using the distro's existing config file in /boot. However, when I boot I get this perplexing line:
Code:ALERT! UUID=5d9... does not exist. Dropping to a shell. As far as I can tell, this is the correct UUID. It matches up in /etc/fstab, in the GRUB config for the original kernel, and in blkid when I boot the original kernel. This leads me to think this is a module issue, though I don't know which modules would be missing. Maybe someone can shine some light on this.
One thing that may be relevant is that I'm running this in VirtualBox.
Appreciate any insights.
