A 34-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after falling near the Chedoke Radial Trail on the west Mountain overnight.

The man was walking in a wooded area, near Scenic Drive and Chateau Court, when he fell and was unable to get back up, said Hamilton police. He was found about three metres below the path.

Emergency services were called around midnight. Hamilton fire conducted a rope rescue to bring the man to safety.

He was conscious and in good spirits, police said.

Scenic Drive was briefly closed between Lavender Drive and Goulding Avenue. It reopened by 1:40 a.m.
