gparted create gpt drive.

Hi,
I have a 4tb hdd that I would like to create as a gpt drive to store pictures and what not.
I tried to make the drive in windows but it resulted in that I could not see it in linux also gparted reported the drive to be not correct.

Now I was thinking of making it with a live gparted usb stick. since my linux partition is broken and whaits for recovery.

So what I rembered is that I need to put an EFI partition on it, is it nessecary since I will not boot from it?
If it is nessecary how big should it be? I know windows usually puts a ~100MB EFI but I have read that I should put at least 500MB.

I have previously created an EFI on a disk but then I had to use gdisk to set the flag "EF00" on the EFI partition, Can this be done directly form gparted? I found no settings to do this.
