How would I disable file history in MATE?

So you know how some applications, like a picture viewer or archive manager, will have the option "Open recent" or something along those lines. In Gnome3 I was able to easily find and disable file history in the Gnome Settings. I'm having trouble finding such an option in MATE. I'm using MATE 1.24.1, in case something related changed recently.
