The Edmonton Oilers signed defenseman Cody Ceci to a four-year contract with an average annual value of $3.25 million, the team announced Wednesday.

Ceci, 27, spent last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He scored four goals and added 13 assists in 53 games while averaging 18:31 of ice time.

Cody Ceci, signed 4x$3.25M by EDM, has definitely improved since leaving OTT. He's a positive defensive player who didn't look out of place in elevated minutes for the Pens this year. But that term is definitely a tough sell. #LetsGoOilers pic.twitter.com/evJqf9CZEH

Ceci has struggled at both ends of the ice at times throughout his career but had a strong 2020-21 campaign with the Penguins.

The Oilers' defense is set to look quite different next season following the additions of Ceci and Duncan Keith. The club also recently parted ways with Adam Larsson, Ethan Bear, and Caleb Jones.
