The Anaheim Ducks signed captain Ryan Getzlaf to a one-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.

The contract is worth $4.5 million, reports TSN's Pierre LeBrun.

Getzlaf reportedly mulled offers from other teams. The Dallas Stars and Montreal Canadiens showed strong interest, LeBrun adds.

"It was always our intention to sign Ryan, and we are thrilled he chose to stay," Ducks general manager Bob Murray said. "His loyalty to this franchise is unique in pro sports, and it is our hope he remains a Duck for his entire career."

He has spent his entire 16-year career with the Ducks since they drafted him with the 19th pick in 2003. Getzlaf scored five goals and added 12 assists in 48 games last season.

The 36-year-old's days as a dominant two-way center are behind him, but Getzlaf remains an effective player. At five-on-five last season, he posted a 51.75 Corsi For rating and a 49.57 expected goals for percentage.

In 1,101 career games, Getzlaf has accumulated 279 goals and 703 assists. He helped guide the Ducks to a Stanley Cup victory in 2007.
