Man taken to hospital after stabbing near Hamilton Farmers’ Market

A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital Wednesday afternoon after being stabbed in the downtown core.

Emergency crews responded to an address near the Hamilton Farmers' Market on York Boulevard just before 2:10 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

Dave Thompson of the Hamilton Paramedic Service said the victim sustained penetrating trauma" and was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.

It's unclear whether an altercation preceded the stabbing.

Hamilton police could not immediately be reached for comment.
