ubuntu newbie excited to learn bash
by NickersisaNewbie from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5MRTT)
Hiya people,
A friend hard rubbished me a computer and set it up with ubuntu studio and I am so excited to have a computer that is not Windows or Mac. It's been a long time since I used command languages or done any coding, I have never used bash and was surprised to find how easy it looks (but I have to get home and try it yet!).
The first issue I have is I bought a wifi receiver dual band dongle but when I plug it in no networks appear, though my friend used his when he first set it up for me and that found networks! I have tried different usb ports but until half an hour ago I didn't even know how to check if devices or ports were working so I will go home and see if I can sus this.
I'm really excited to have a computer I have the control of but do have a lot to learn. I've been impressed with the ubuntu studio software so far - who else here is using ubuntu studio?
Any newbie tips?
Thanks guys,
Nickers
