Failure in name resolution

I loaded and used elementary os. It was fine for a day then I got the error 'temporary failure in name resolution'
I added 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to the nameserver list and that helped for another day but now I'm stuck..
Any suggestions on what to try next?
