It appears the Indianapolis Colts won't be making a move for Nick Foles as Carson Wentz recovers from foot surgery.

With Wentz set to miss 5-to-12 weeks after suffering an injury during training camp, Foles has been among the veteran quarterbacks speculated as possible trade options for Indianapolis.

But head coach Frank Reich, who coached Foles and Wentz while with the Philadelphia Eagles, suggested Wednesday that his team isn't considering adding the signal-caller.

"This is Carson's team. He is our quarterback," said Reich, according to Charlie Clifford of WISH-TV. "Everyone knows that."

"I don't mind talking about Nick Foles, I love Foles," He added. "I think he is a great player, teammate, he is a winner. But, he plays for the Chicago Bears."

Foles fueled rumors of a potential reunion with Reich on Monday when he heaped praise on his former offensive coordinator. The passer and Reich helped lead the Eagles to a 2017 Super Bowl win after Wentz suffered a season-ending knee injury.

"Frank Reich is one of my favorite, if not favorite, coaches of all time," Foles said. "He understands me as a player. He understands me as a person. But I haven't had any talks with them. I'm a Chicago Bear right now.

"But he knows me. You all watched the 2017 season and the playoffs where he changed the offense and built it around me, and you all saw what happened."

Reich has said the Colts plan to start sophomore Jacob Eason if Wentz misses regular-season games.

Eason, who was once a five-star recruit, has yet to appear in an NFL game after being taken in the fourth round in 2020.

Jacob has that upside. With that arm talent, there are things you can do that money can't buy," said Reich.
