A new attraction has popped up in Hamilton's busy downtown core - and it comes in an unusual form.

WineBox, a new independent wine shop that offers niche vinos unavailable in most liquor stores, opened last week at 43 King William St.

It's housed in a refurbished shipping container - replete with a boutique shop behind its counter and surrounding seats for anyone craving a glass of wine.

The shop casts itself on its website as one of the only places in Ontario to buy rare, small-batch and handcraft wines by the bottle - and under-the-radar" wines not sold at big-box stores.

Most are from small to medium-sized, family-run farms, where they farm the land and make the wines themselves," the website says.

WineBox offers in-person purchases as well as delivery for wine bottles or cases. Any order is accompanied with a serving of homemade popcorn.
