Hamilton police investigating Mountain shooting after shell casings found
Hamilton police are investigating a shooting on the Mountain after shell casings were found at a plaza near Juravinski Hospital Sunday morning.
Police were called around 8 a.m. Aug. 8 to 796 Concession St., a plaza east of Upper Sherman Avenue, after someone found shell casings.
Detectives learned there were loud bangs" in the area around 4 a.m., however, no one called police at that time, police said.
There are no reports of injuries and police believe the incident was targeted.
That same strip mall was hit with gunfire in May 2019.
This shooting marks the 16th shooting in Hamilton so far this year. There have been 10 people hurt in shootings, including three killed.
On Friday, 17-year-old victim as Keden Bond was killed and two of his family members hurt in a shooting behind a restaurant in Stoney Creek. No one has been charged.
Police are asking residents in the area of Sunday's shooting to check their surveillance cameras for any suspicious activity.
