How do I separate /home from root partition and connect /home1 and /home2 partitions to it?
by monkeystuff from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5NHK2)
When I installed Debian I split my /home partition between two LVs, /home1 and /home2, because mounting both of the LVs to /home didn't work and online several people seem to use /home1, /home2, etc. After logging in for the first time, KDE Plasma 5.20.5 loaded my desktop and default wallpaper but wouldn't load my taskbar. When troubleshooting that issue by adding a Default Panel from right-click and removing ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc when that didn't work, removing ~/.config/... didn't work because no such directory was in /home, so I checked my files and found that my /home was where the / partition is and my /home1 and /home2 partitions were considered separate folders.
My question is how do I move my /home partition to /home1 and add /home2 to it as a secondary home partition, and will doing that fix my desktop? Do I need to reinstall again and mount the LVs elsewhere? If I'm missing information please let me know, I'll give any extra details I need to. I'm also sorry if this is somewhere obvious online, I haven't been able to find anything about this specific kind of case. Thanks in advance.
