Colts' Reich: Wentz, Nelson to practice Monday
Carson Wentz, Quenton Nelson, and Ryan Kelly will return to practice Monday, Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich announced Sunday.
"You're going to see (Wentz) out there on the practice field this week," Reich said, according to team reporter J.J. Stankevitz. "He'll be out there tomorrow taking some things.
"He'll be out there. It'll be limited. He'll be limited but he will be participating, as will Kelly and as will Quenton Nelson."
Wentz and Nelson underwent identical foot surgeries in August and were initially expected to miss between 5-to-12 weeks.
Kelly injured his elbow early in training camp and has not participated in practice since.
Despite the initial rehab time frame, Wentz and Nelson were reportedly trending toward being ready for the Colts' opening week contest against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 12.
The Colts acquired the 28-year-old signal-caller via trade in February from the Philadelphia Eagles. Wentz is looking to redeem himself in a new setting after leading the NFL with 15 interceptions and 50 sacks a year ago.
Nelson, a three-time All-Pro, has started every game for the Colts since the franchise drafted him in 2018.
