Prescott participates in team drills for 1st time since injury
Dak Prescott took part in team drills for the first time since suffering a shoulder strain last month.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback took 18 snaps and looked sharp while completing 11 of his 12 pass attempts Wednesday, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. His return drew praise from teammate Ezekiel Elliott.
"Dak looks really good, man," Elliott said, according to Archer. "He's throwing the ball with some pop. He looks good, looks like he's progressing."
Prescott was shut down from throwing for two weeks after exiting practice on July 28 due to his shoulder injury. He threw during warmups prior to the Cowboys' preseason contests against the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals, though the signal-caller didn't participate in those games.
The Cowboys have been cautious with the 28-year-old while keeping him out of preseason play. However, a recent MRI on Prescott's shoulder revealed the injury is healing well, putting him on track to start the team's regular-season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Head coach Mike McCarthy applauded Prescott's eagerness to work out with his team, calling him a "caged lion" prior to Wednesday's practice.
Prescott hasn't played since suffering a serious ankle injury during Week 5 last campaign. He signed a four-year, $160-million extension with the Cowboys this past offseason.
