best way to clone a dual-OS laptop onto an external HDD

Hi Folks! I'm in need of some guidance again. I'm thinking of cloning my dual-OS (XenialPup/WIN XP) HP Mini laptop over to an 2TB external HDD as a safety way to protect my laptop and data. I've never cloned anything before as I thought it might be a real hassle - especially retrieving just one or two special files. I often use my HDD for making simple backups of various drives, but the thought of having the WHOLE MACHINE safely stored separately sounds like a good thing to do - maybe even on a regular basis. I'd greatly welcome suggestions on how to proceed for this new project. :scratch:latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=EJHDzHXkJxc:6EXNeAWu2fE:F7zBnMy latest?i=EJHDzHXkJxc:6EXNeAWu2fE:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=EJHDzHXkJxc:6EXNeAWu2fE:gIN9vFwEJHDzHXkJxc
