Seahawks acquire cornerback Sidney Jones from Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars traded cornerback Sidney Jones to the Seattle Seahawks, the team announced Monday.
Jacksonville received a 2022 sixth-round draft pick in return, Schefter adds.
The Philadelphia Eagles selected Jones in the second round in the 2017 draft. He played in 31 games (14 starts) for the Eagles across three seasons before being cut ahead of the 2020 campaign. Jones then signed with the Jaguars and appeared in nine contests last season, recording two interceptions and a forced fumble.
Jones should provide depth for a Seahawks cornerback group currently fronted by Tre Flowers and Ahkello Witherspoon. Shaquill Griffin, Seattle's top corner a year ago, signed with the Jaguars in free agency in March.
The Seahawks ranked second-last in pass defense last season, giving up 4,560 yards and 23 touchdowns through the air.
