Cardinals place Butler on retired list

The Arizona Cardinals placed cornerback Malcolm Butler on the reserve/retired list on Tuesday.
On cutdown day, the Cards named a 52-man roster but left one open spot.
Butler reportedly has been contemplating retirement as he deals with a personal matter.
Butler signed a one-year, $3.25-million deal with the Cardinals in March after he was released by the Tennessee Titans following three seasons with the team.
Prior to that, he spent four years with the New England Patriots, where he was the hero of Super Bowl XLIX after intercepting Russell Wilson at the goal line in the dying moments of the game.
