Can I safely omit eliloconfig step in setup and do some changes related to eliloconfig script?

Hey folks! I have a question related to running Slackware on the LXD virtual machine. When I did the full installation of Slackware, the eliloconfig script was run by the setup script. Slackware directory is placed at /boot/efi/EFI directory. LXD requires the "boot" directory under /boot/efi/EFI to recognize that Slackware is installed at the /dev/sda2 and its elilo config, kernel, initrd.
Can I safely remove directory /boot/efi/EFI/Slackware with its content and maybe later modify eliloconfig script to force using /boot/efi/EFI/boot directory instead of /boot/efi/EFI/Slackware, and tell this script to use name bootx64.efi instead of elilo.efi for a file with bootloader?
Can I omit with peace eliloconfig steps in the setup script if I decide to install Slackware on LXD virtual machine from ISO?
