Mac Jones: Brady 'definitely did a good job' with Patriots
Mac Jones hopes to be the next great quarterback for the New England Patriots, and he knows Tom Brady casts a long shadow.
The rookie starter was asked Wednesday whether he feels pressure to uphold the standard that Brady set in his 20 years in Foxborough.
"Obviously he's a great player and the word 'standard' kind of hit me there because we all want to play to that standard, the Patriot Way," Jones said. "Really it comes down to just doing your job. As a quarterback, that's leading the people around me as best I can and that's also executing the plays."
Then Jones provided perhaps the understatement of the century when summarizing Brady's run with the Patriots, which included six Super Bowl titles and three league MVP trophies.
"He definitely did a good job. When I first got here, just watching tape - I've watched all the quarterbacks - obviously he was on there and he did a really, really good job," Jones said. "Hopefully I can do a good job, too."
The 23-year-old will come face-to-face with the 44-year-old when the Patriots host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4.
