Washington Football Team quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks with the hip subluxation he suffered in the season opener, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Head coach Ron Rivera acknowledged Monday that Fitzpatrick would head to the injured reserve, sidelining him for a minimum of three weeks. He said that Washington isn't interested in bringing in another quarterback for the time being, except Kyle Shurmur, who's joining the practice squad.

Fitzpatrick exited the team's season opener after taking a hit from Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Uchenna Nwosu. Taylor Heinicke replaced him, and he'll start Thursday against the New York Giants with Kyle Allen backing him up.

Washington signed Fitzpatrick to a one-year contract during the offseason after shuffling through quarterbacks last campaign. The 38-year-old managed only six pass attempts before leaving the field. He spent the previous two years with the Miami Dolphins.

"It is frustrating," Rivera said of the revolving door Washington has had at quarterback. "But hopefully with the situation we have right now we'll be able to go forward."

Washington will take an 0-1 record into Week 2 after dropping its opener to the Chargers.
