Linux on tablets

I have a Lenovo Tab2 that runs Android 6. I think it would be a good test candidate for playing with mobile Linux. But I'm having trouble justifying the possibility of bricking it over the possibilities of functionality. It seems we don't really have mobile Linux fleshed out, or a list of devices it can be natively installed on?
As well, I'm trying to understand how I would benefit from it's use, over my Linux laptop. For one, it doesn't have a physical keyboard, so fast CLI typing is basically out. And I don't do graphic design/editing.
What benefits currently, aside from privacy (and that is a big one), does installing mobile Linux afford?
