Brantford senior charged with manslaughter in retirement home death
Brantford police have charged an 82-year-old man with manslaughter after an assault in a retirement home earlier this month led to the death of an 89-year-old woman.
Police were called to the home on Diana Avenue around 2:50 p.m. Sept. 5 for an assault. Both the victim and alleged perpetrator were residents of the home.
Detectives allege the man pushed the woman, causing her to fall and strike her head. She was taken to hospital, where she died of her injuries.
Police have not named the victim or the accused.
The 82-year-old man was arrested and was expected to appear in court Thursday.
The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Sgt. Charles Wheeler at 519-756-7050.
