network mx linux 19.4 and win 7

im trying to network mx and win 7 using samba. in windows i see mx but only the printer connected to mx.
in mx i see nothing. in samba ive added my user and password but get the following error when click apply
error chowning directory:/var/samba/profiles/john
any help appreciated
