Super Bowl odds update: Bucs overtake Chiefs as favorites after Week 2
We're only two weeks into the NFL season, and oddsmakers have already installed a new title favorite.
The Buccaneers (+400) moved into pole position in the Super Bowl market after thrashing the Falcons to move to 2-0 on the campaign. The move comes hours after the Chiefs (+450) coughed up an 11-point fourth-quarter lead in Sunday's thrilling 36-35 loss at the Ravens in prime time.
The defeat means that Kansas City, which has entered each of the last two years as the preseason favorite, is not favored to win the Super Bowl for the first time since Week 7 of last season - when, ironically, the Ravens were co-favorites with the Seahawks, according to Sports Odds History.
The Rams (+700) saw their odds cut in half after escaping the Colts' late rally Sunday, moving into third on the oddsboard. They could vault themselves into the top spot with a home win over the Buccaneers (pk) in a clash between two of the NFL's seven undefeated teams.
Six of those seven clubs saw a substantial bump in their title odds Monday. The Raiders (+7500 to +3500) and Broncos (+3300 to +2000) are the AFC's lone 2-0 teams and saw arguably the biggest moves of the week. The Cardinals (+2500) entered the title conversation after a dramatic win over the Vikings. The Panthers (+5000) saw their price slashed following another dominant performance from their young defense.
Only the 49ers (+1000 to +1400) saw a dip in their Super Bowl odds after slogging through a road win over the Eagles to move to 2-0. Division rival Seattle (+2500) also took a step back after an inexplicable overtime loss to the Titans, while the Bears (+6000) and Dolphins (+7000) both tumbled down the oddsboard after injuries to their starting QBs.
